Amber Young

Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given to you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer. - Rainer Maria Rilke

Amber’s first exploration of yoga was as a young girl, when she stumbled upon a yoga book at a second hand store. This moment changed the trajectory of her life. Yoga, meditation, sound, and somatic practices are a personal anchor for her, and she is humbled to be able to share these practices in community.

Amber brings a heart centered wisdom to her classes; while infusing the teachings with joy and appreciation. She has been teaching mindfulness and breast health workshops since 2009 and completed her 200 Hr yoga teacher training in 2017 at PranaShanti in Ottawa. Her classes are inspired by her continued studies of restorative yoga, hidden language, mindfulness, grief work, somatic movement, Buddhist practices, and sound therapy. She gently weaves sound into her yoga classes.

Supporting her teaching, she has a strong anatomical background, as Amber has been practicing as a Registered Massage Therapist since 2004 with a focus on working with folks with cancer, trauma, somatoemotional release, end of life, stress management and the mind body connection.

Amber makes non-negotiable time for her personal practice, spending time in the forest, making music with her family, watching the birds, and painting with watercolours. Her personal health journey has given her a deep respect for the human body, the strength of spirit, the importance of community, and the fragility of life.
